Friends of Scouting (FOS) is the annual giving campaign organized by local Boy Scouts of America councils to sustain Scouting programs and resources. It typically runs from late fall through early spring and represents one of the largest sources of funding for councils. Contributions from families and community supporters help cover essential costs that membership fees alone cannot, such as maintaining camps, providing camp scholarships, training volunteers, supporting Scoutreach programs, and ensuring insurance coverage and administrative support. These donations make it possible to keep Scouting affordable and accessible, while funding leadership development, outdoor adventures, and character-building experiences for youth. In short, Friends of Scouting is an investment in the future of Scouting and the communities it serves.
