A Scouting America District-level Commissioner acts as a coach and a mentor to help Scout units succeed by providing support and guidance to unit leaders. Commissioners act as a liaison between the local council and the Scout units, ensuring units operate efficiently, maintain high program standards, and have a positive and safe environment for youth. They are responsible for helping units with everything from program planning and rechartering to finding resources and counseling leaders on best practices
At present, and under the umbrella of a new mandate of service developed by Scouting America, the District Commissioner Corps is currently being restructured.

Every Scout Deserves a Trained Leader
As a District, we acknowledge that training is important, and research shows the importance of trained leaders. A trained leader is knowledgeable and more confident in the role being performed. Trained leaders exhibit a knowledge and confidence that people around them pick up. Trained leaders impact the quality of programs, leader tenure, youth tenure, safety, and a whole lot more. A trained leader is better prepared to make the Scouting program all it can be!
Please follow the link below to access an extensive library of training modules, from position specific to more general in nature.
The link will also take you to Scouting's premier training to support its commitment to Youth Protection and Safety; "Safeguarding Youth," a mandatory training for all adult volunteers in Scouting America.
Scouting America provides a comprehensive array of resources that complement both youth and adult experiences with the Organization.
